You know that container that often gets pushed to the back of your fridge with the rest of your leftovers only to be thrown out a week later entirely full and untouched?? I’m talking about that white rice! White rice is the biggest cheat code to come in your takeout order, I promise you.
For anyone who doesn’t know how a microwave works, “microwaves” are produced inside the microwave by an electron tube called a magnetron. The microwaves are reflected within the metal interior of the oven where they are absorbed by food. The microwaves cause water molecules in food to vibrate, producing heat that cooks the food. Meaning, if you’re trying to heat up food that is low in moisture, you’re going to have a hard time. The more moisture in the food the better the reheat will be, so sprinkle some drops of water or blanket your rice with a damp paper towel, it’s going to do wonders!
Once your rice is heated to however your prefer, I like to look at it as a blank canvas or even a vehicle to transport allllll of my favorite condiments on.
I start with some…
Soy sauce @moromishoyu
Sesame oil
Mirin (rsweetened rice wine vinegar)
Duck egg or any bird egg
@flybyjing Zhong Sauce or chili crisp oil
Green onion
Furikake rice seasoning
