Tucked away in the corner of the Catskills is a small remote Bungalo retreat. Equipped with all of your weekend essentials, the Glen Wilde is the perfect getaway to escape the city. About a 2 Hour drive from Brooklyn, nestled in a small open field 12 little cottages make for the perfect retreat for you and your friends. Equipped with a pool, a garden, and the perfect little “outdoor kitchen“ ; you’ll be near and dear to all things outdoors and adventure!
When we were invited to come spend the weekend it was a breath of fresh air, pun intended, to get out in the woods and get back to the roots of cooking. There’s not a ton to do in the middle of nowhere but I guess that’s kind of the point. Hiking trails are certainly everywhere but if you’re looking for a grocery store or even your closest bar your miles and miles away.
We stayed in number 11; a one bedroom plus open loft little cottage equipped with a full bathroom and full kitchen. These things have all of the essentials, pots and pans, full refrigeration, plates and dishes, even an array of games to choose from. But by far our favorite part of our room was all the open space and natural light that flooded the house.
The grounds keepers were super nice and accommodating and once given the go to to start a fire we immediately started cooking. With plenty of beers on ice, I started my fire building a little TP and base to support a grill grate where we will be cooking our first meal on (and every meal for that matter).
You’ll catch more of the story here in later posts with full recipes, but wanted to make the proper introduction of such a beautiful and tranquill haven. Enjoy these photos of the grounds and all of the cabins and a big thank you again to the Glen Wilde!!
